Czech Rep., Aug 30 (BD) – Last month, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš mentioned the possibility of a third dose of vaccine for certain vulnerable groups.
According to the Twitter page for the Czech government’s Chytra Karantena (“Smart Quarantine”), which coordinates information about the vaccination rollout, applications for a third dose of vaccine against Covid-19 will start from September 20th, 2021, for those in vulnerable groups, mainly people over 60 years of age, who had their second dose more than eight months ago.
Those receiving their third dose will be vaccinated with mRNA-based vaccines, either the Pfizer / BioNTech or Moderna vaccines.
According to Chytra Karantena, almost 6 million people have now been completely vaccinated in the Czech Republic. Most of them received the two-dose Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine. 65.8% of the adult population has already received at least one dose, and a further 3.6% have made a vaccination appointment or have registered and are waiting for the vaccination appointment.
