Brno, Dec 8 (BD) – There’s a whole host of events going on in the city to raise your spirits as the cold sets in, from a DIY experience at the Xmas Accessory Workshop to learning the Latin dances salsa and bachata, and the fun doesn’t stop there. Winter shopping, ice skating, concerts and exhibitions are also on the schedule for this week!
Who doesn’t love a chance to learn sexy new dance routines!? Try learning the simple arm-styling, solo steps of salsa and bachata: a class of Salsa and Bachata for beginners will take place every Tuesday at La Casa Verde for those in love with two of the most exotic and sensual Latin dances. While salsa is a fast-paced dance with intricate music, bachata is slow and romantic. All in all, the class will get you acquainted with the very first steps of these styles using different techniques of body movement, footwork and partnerwork. The class will be in English, and you will need to register in advance. For more information about the class, check the Facebook event (in English).
Let your imagination run wild while playing with leather, and you might end up with a personalised belt and bag for yourself or as a gift for your best friends! MANi will host a special workshop, “All Inclusive Xmas Accessory”, where you can make your own belts and urban body bags based on the concept of circular economy, using leather and other materials. The workshop’s artists will show you how to use the tools and choose material for your design. More importantly, they will give you some tricks and tips on how to keep the items for a long time. The events will take place on December 11th and December 14th. Make sure to reserve a space early for the workshop, as capacity is limited. You can book your spot and find a full description of the workshop on the Facebook event (in Czech and English).

Czech Theater’s play “Charlotte and Alice” will return to Music Lab on December 15th with a dramatic reading of the letters exchanged between Charlotte Garrigue Masaryk and Alice Masaryk. The play is inspired by over 200 letters that Charlotte Garrigue, wife of the president Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, wrote to her daughter Alice while she was imprisoned in Austria. The main themes of the story are Czech history, feminism, and life in prison, based around the motif of a long-distance mother-daughter relationship. If you are craving a warm night indoors with a heartwarming story, you can find a description of the play at this link (in English), and tickets are from CZK 100 (for students) to CZK 200.
Another musical concert is coming to town, even better news for you if you happened to miss the film music tour last week! Join the “Lords Of The Sound” “Oscar Music Awards” on December 10th for an evening full of film rhythms, which will put you in the mood for movie nights. The two-hour concert will be performed at Zoner Bodyhall. Check the Facebook event (in Czech) page to find more information.
