Why fake it when we can afford a real fir tree for Christmas? Join the “Christmas Fir Trees in Pots” (Prodej vánočních jedliček v květináči) ecological project on namesti Svobody from November 25th, to select the best christmas tree for your home. 1,750 silver fir trees will be on sale at 12 locations in Brno (including namesti Svobody), at a price of CZK 120 each. Customers will then get full instructions on how to take care of the trees during winter time. And later, in Spring, members of the project will be able to plant the fir trees in wooded areas around the Brno region under the guide of Brno environmental organisations. For fans of hard rock or rock ‘n’ roll, a special tribute show to AC/DC at Zoner Bobyhall on November 26th will heat you up in the cold weather and spooky nights, with all AC/DC’s best hits. The legendary Australian band became huge around the world with albums including High Voltage and the most recent release, Rock or Bust. Spend a night honouring one of the greatest hard rock bands of all time with a mix of Australian hard rock and a virtuoso symphony orchestra. Will robots replace humans in the near future? This crucial question will be addressed by Marek Grác, an expert in machine learning and natural language processing, with a presentation entitled “Rise of the robots: Are they ready?” The presenter will talk about the case study of a phenomenal social robot named Pepper, as well as interactive discussions on the rich informative subjects of machine learning and programming. Looking for Christmas presents? Drop by Tržnice Brno on November 27th – 28th to find second-hand CDs and LPs as a present for your loved ones, the choice is huge! At the LP Records and CD Exchange Market you will find a great selection of vinyl LPs and CDs from The Beatles, Queen, Pink Floyd, The Eagles, Michael Jackson, Madonna and many other famous singers, on sale for two days only. Job hunters, do you have an updated CV and LinkedIn profile? When it comes to job searching, a CV is paramount. Get it right, and you will have an interview in no time. Otherwise, come to the presentation “Hack The Job Interview” for practical advice and tips on CVs and job interviews from experienced managers at IBM and Honeywell. You can choose a manager for a 10-minute realistic interview by filling in the registration form as soon as you can, as the capacity of the event is limited. The event is free of charge. Between November 29th and December 1st, the most important commemorative event in the South Moravian Region, “Austerlitz 2019″, dedicated to the Battle of Austerlitz in 1805, will take place in Tvarožná, South Moravia. One of the most impressive parts of the four-day celebration is a reenactment of the battle under the Santon hill, with nearly 1000 cavalry from 15 countries, 60 horses and 15 cannons performing at 2pm on Saturday. Take part in the inspirational conference: “Better Self, Better World”, to push yourself out of your comfort zone, and understand your needs through the stories of successful people at Univerzitní Kino Scala on November 30th. Hard rock is all well and good, but if you want more than that – a musical show with everything from classic punk rock and alternative to folk, rap and techno, gear up for the World Block Party: “Panalák of Love” with British / Slovak rock band Craggy Collyde, followed by an Irish / Scottish / South Moravian band, Sounds of Occupation, and Voodoo Recipe, a Brno/London based folk-rap band. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s ballet Swan Lake is coming to Brno Exhibition Center, and even though it’s nearly a century and a half old, it’s just as romantic as ever. It has become a Brno Christmas tradition that the best Russian dancers of the “Royal Moscow Ballet” (Royal Moscow Ballet Výstaviště Brno 1.12.) perform in front of an audience of hundreds in Brno, telling the most loved and mesmerizing fairytale of classical ballet. Looking forward to the city finally lighting up with the spirit of Christmas? The date for the “Official Lightning Ceremony of The Christmas Tree ” (Oficiální rozsvícení vánočního stromu na náměstí Svobody) will be Friday, November 29th on namesti Svobody. Gather in the main city square at 5pm to see the giant decorative Christmas tree with sparkling lights switch on for the festive season. Get there early for a decent view and do some people-watching at the Christmasmarket, which also kicks off on namesti Svobody on November 29th. The market offers fantastic food, warm drinks and is a wonderland for shoppers hunting for unique items, artisan gifts, crafts, and souvenirs.
