Czech Rep., Sep 3 (BD) – According to recent data, alcohol prices in 2020 varied widely across the European Union. The price of alcoholic drinks was more than two and a half times higher in Finland, the most expensive member state, compared with Hungary, the cheapest.
Compared to an EU average price level index of 100, alcoholic drinks were cheapest in Hungary (with a price level index of 73), Romania (74), and Bulgaria (81). At the other end of the scale, the most expensive drinks were in Finland (193), followed by Ireland (181) and Sweden (166).
The Czech Republic had the fifth lowest prices of all EU member countries, with prices roughly similar to three of its four neighbours, Poland, Slovakia, and Germany; only Austria had prices above the EU average.
