Brno, Jun 9 (BD) –  Fireworks, concerts, arts, seafood, picnics and two different universities celebrating their 100th birthdays! Don’t you dare spend this weekend inside, get out there and make the most of Brno!

On Tuesday, let Monet’s art enchant you again, this time in a new format. At 8:30pm you can see the movie “Water Lilies of Monet – The Magic of Water and Light” at Kino Scala, screened in English with Czech subtitles. Tickets start from CZK 180, and can be reserved on the cinema’s website.

We covered it last year, and this week the Emil Open – European games for disabled young people is back in Brno. From Wednesday to Saturday you can see sports from a new perspective. Find more information and the program on the official website.

After the great success of the first three firework displays of the IGNIS Brunensis fireworks festival, there are still two more to come! The next will be at Brno Dam at 22:30 on Wednesday, and the final display at the same time on Saturday night above Špilberk castle. More information about the competition can be found on their website. If you want to enjoy the last of the fireworks with a delicious brunch, check out the third edition of Brunch ‘n’ Park on Saturday night.

Feeling stressed or depressed? The return of the summer may change your mood, so it’s the perfect time for you to relax. On June 14 and for the two following days, learn new breathing and relaxing techniques, among other things, on the Happiness program in English. Be aware that you have to book a space and pay a deposit before coming. See here for more information.

On June 14 and 15, the multigenre festival ObrFest 2019 will take place on the Borky soccer field. Exhibitions, concerts, theatre, movies, beer, food and a lot more awaits you! Check all the details on the Facebook event (only in Czech) and buy your tickets online before coming.

You probably went to the MUNI 100 exhibition that kicked off earlier this month, but what if you discovered a totally different atmosphere at the MUNI 100 Festival on Saturday, for a musical celebration of the university’s 100th anniversary! Find out more and get your tickets online.

Did you know that Masaryk University is the oldest university in Brno by just a few months? On the same evening, Mendel University is also celebrating its 100th anniversary with a music festival! Mendelu FEST will take place in the Za Lužánkami stadium. Buy your tickets and get more information here (in Czech).

Do you have a secret dream of becoming a fisherman on a faraway island, but find that life gets in the way? We can’t really help you with that, but for a couple of days you can get a taste of the sea at the 10th edition of the “Slavnosti Moře” fish and seafood festival! From Saturday 10 AM to Sunday 6 PM you can sample fish, seafood, and more! We had lots of fun last year as you can see below! Find more information on the Facebook event. AHOY!

Still feeling like taking to the treacherous seas? Just follow your dreams and take your family with you to the Expat Center’s Family Canoe Afternoon. From 2 PM to 6 PM an instructor will accompany you and teach you how to sail the perilous waters of Brno’s River Svratka. Tickets cost CZK 120 for adults and CZK 80 for children, and you can book them on the official website.

It’s almost summer: is your wardrobe ready for it? The Mint Fashion Market is back in town on Saturday! From 11 AM to 8 PM browse through handmade dresses, second-hand clothes, jewellery and more! Entrance is free, and you can check out the list of vendors and more information on the official website.  

If you read our article “Special Concert by the Brno Philharmonic and “Young Mozarts” in Bobycentrum”, you know that the “Young Mozarts” or “Mozart’s Children” festival is coming to Brno for its 10th edition. On June 16, the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra and the “Young Mozarts” will perform Musorgskij´s popular Pictures from the exhibition and compositions by Mozart and Rossini. Do you need a big summer party? On June 16, Summer Sundaze at Ponava is gathering five bands for your entertainment! Entrance is free, check the Facebook event for more information about the line-up!

On Sunday, bring a blanket and relax in the park, drinking wine and choosing from lots of different food trucks and workshops (in Czech) at Brno’s Picnic! Tacos, pasta, ice-cream, paleo and vegan options and more! No registration is required, and you can find the full program on the official website.
