Brno, Jun 22 (BD) – The South Moravian council has approved the release of CZK 60 million to pay two years of listing fees for the city’s motorcycle Grand Prix, ensuring that the race will continue to be held in Brno for the 2020 and 2021 season.
The decision follows two months of intensive negotiations with MotoGP organizer and commercial rights owner Dorna Sports, said Bohumil Simek (ANO), Governor of the South Moravian Region. According to Simek, the negotiations included discussions on special concessions related to the coronavirus pandemic, as part of which the Spanish organizer and promoter agreed to significantly reduce the fees that the circuit must pay for the GP to be included in the championship. Dorna also offered exclusive advertising terms for the Czech Republic, South Moravian Region and the City of Brno as part of the sporting event.
Using regional funds and financial support from the state, the Association for MotoGP CR Brno was able to meet all obligations set by the MotoGP, ensuring that the GP will take place in Brno both this and the coming year. Meeting those obligations now, added Simek, has given the region space to negotiate the continuation of the contract. Future negotiations with Dorna will likely include a new promotional agreement, which will ensure the hosting of the Czech GP in Brno for the years 2022-26.
This year’s race will take place in the first weekend of August, 7th-9th.https://brnodaily.com/2020/06/22/sport/south-moravian-region-secures-brno-motogp-for-at-least-next-two-years/https://brnodaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/180805_GP_Brno_2018_foto_credit-Maria-Sch.-1024x682.jpghttps://brnodaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/180805_GP_Brno_2018_foto_credit-Maria-Sch.-150x100.jpgBrnoNewsSportBrno,Moto GP,SportThe South Moravian Region has reached an agreement with MotoGP promoter Dorna Sports, to ensure the viability of the Brno MotoGP for 2020 and 2021 at least.
