Brno, Feb 26 (BD) – The International School of Brno (ISB) in Brno-Vinohrady has now been providing English-language education in Brno for 10 years, from kindergarten to high school. The school aims to prepare its students for the international academic landscape; it is the only internationally accredited high school in South Moravia, and all qualifications and syllabi studied by ISB students, principally Cambridge International and the International Baccalaureate, are compatible with the international educational system. Furthermore, according to school director Jan Švihálek, “ISB teachers are highly-qualified, internationally experienced professionals, mostly from countries where English is the first language.”
International schools have a reputation for high quality education, tailored for the international community. Asked about the ISB approach to learning, Švihálek said, “we do not know what the future will look like, but believe that skills like communication, flexibility, independence, critical and analytical thinking, collaboration, as well as routines, self- and time-management, combined with deep knowledge will lead to successful futures for our students.” This attitude is summarized in the school’s mission statement: “We learn and grow in unique ways to become lifelong learners and responsible global citizens.”
The school’s modern facilities include well-equipped laboratories, colourful classrooms and hallways, and spacious common areas. Švihálek also highlighted the quality of the school’s teachers as a key resource: “We are very happy to have such a creative and enthusiastic staff.” For the students themselves, the international flavour of the student body also offers a lot of opportunities for learning: “The students come from all around the world. We have a very diverse student body, which helps to promote our core values like respect and understanding,” he added.
Now the school has organized three open days this Spring to allow prospective students and their families to see what the school has to offer them. The ISB high school section will hold its Open Day on March 5th, followed by the primary school on April 1st, and the kindergarten on May 13th. According to Švihálek: “Visitors will find out about their options of studying abroad with qualifications from ISB, and our different approach to education. They will be able to meet the staff, and get a feel for the open, collaborative and inspiring atmosphere. They will be able to see examples of our learning activities, which will show how important prestigious international accreditations are when it comes to further studies.”
