There are loads of great events coming up, ranging from art, dancing, and entertainment to health and technology. Join an innovative marathon at the AT&T Hackathon or go for a charity race at the Elite Battle of Brno 2019 Winter, or stop at the Mint Market to look for some stylish dresses and shoes… the choice is yours!
Kick-start the new week with some artistic and cultural vibes. Pop to the “Redefining Boundaries” exhibition, or head to Šelepka to see “Largo Desolato”, the highlights for Tuesday. “Redefining Boundaries” is a student exhibition about the conceptual overlaps of photography showcased in three concepts: Questioning the Medium, Personal Viewpoint and Beyond Photography. The artists of the exhibition are Hungarian students from the Photography Department at the University of Kaposvár. Find your own definition of boundary by visiting the exhibition on November 19th at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno. Another hot tip for Tuesday is an English adaptation of the play “Largo Desolato”, written by Václav Havel while he was in prison during the time of communism. Although the show was written during the communist era, the story mainly focuses on the inner world of human beings and their sense of personal identity and freedom. The event is a perfect chance for cellphone followers to catch up with the latest trends of mobile development, with informative presentations from professionals and developers in the field. The conference takes place in English at the Impact Hub Brno on November 20th, and is free to attend. Like other innovative camps, AT&T Brno wants to bring developers, coders and enthusiasts together to compete for the best innovative solutions under a specific theme, and the theme of the AT&T Hackathon in Brno this year is “Technologies For The Future”. The two-day hackathon will take place in Pavilion E, Brno Exhibition Center on November 22nd – 23rd. Calling all fans of original fashions, accessories and jewelry: Mint Market – one of the biggest independent markets in the Czech Republic – is returning to Brno under the name of Mint Market Brno no. 40 on November 22nd – 23rd. As always, admission to the pop-up market is free, so check out the clothing or delicacy stands at Tržnice Brno, and mix and match as much as you like. If you are looking for a winter race to add an extra challenge to your fitness goals, the Elite Battle of Brno 2019 Winter could be of interest to you. This is a charity race that not only encourages children and their parents to get involved in physical activities such as swimming, cycling and running, but also helps other children who are unable to exercise physically due to health problems. “Build a Lego City” (Postav s námi Lego Město!) is a combination of creativity with amazing live music, taking you down memory lane to your childhood with lego, while also supplying music in a pleasant atmosphere. Adults can find a ticket for a short journey back to childhood, and meanwhile the kids will be engaged in building Lego Friends, Lego City and Ninjago or Star Wars. There will be small awards for the best lego model afterward. The event will take place at Kralovo Pole on November 23rd and November 24th. Curious about Lúčnica – The Slovak National Folklore Ballet? “Lúčnica Dance” is back in Brno at Janáček Theatre on November 24th for those who are interested in the spirited national dance of Slovakia. You will be amazed by the impressive movement, eye-popping traditional costumes and wonderful musical interludes. In the past, Lúcnica was the traditional dance of Slovak shepherds, potters, and peasants, and now it will be revived again in Brno, performed by a Lúčnica ensemble, choir and orchestra. Are you feeling festive? The Christmas Ferris wheel finally reappeared in Brno over a month ago for the most beautiful time of the year.. Brno cordially welcomes all locals and visitors to visit the most spectacular Christmas street markets around the city, especially the largest ones at namesti Svobody, Moravske namesti, and the Exhibition Center.
