Brno, Jul 11 (BD) – According to the Brno Expat Centre, more than 1,000 respondents participated in their survey – with all of them being foreigners living in Brno. Altogether, the participants come from a 84 different countries, with more than half being EU nationals.

The city seems to attract young professionals, with half of the respondents being between the ages of 26 to 35 years old, and 90% of them having university degrees. With the country’s low unemployment rate, it is not a surprise that 84% of the respondents are employed, with the rest being either self-employed, or students; 12% are unemployed. The great news is that 84% of the employed expats are overall satisfied with their job!

Brno lives up to its reputation as the “Silicon Valley of Central Europe”, with one out of five expats working in the IT sector – specifically in software and hardware development. The rest are most likely to be working in business support services, education and telecommunications.

In terms of wages, 75% of the foreigners in Brno are earning more than the average income in the Czech Republic, with 22% having more than double the average income.

Last but not least, the majority of the survey participants live in or around the city center (at 42%), and more than half of the respondents have been living in Brno for more than three years. This definitely shows how content the foreigners are with the city!
