What’s Up Brno? – Events in Brno, Week n°28

Brno, Jul 7 (BD) – Earlier this week we presented you the Special Edition of What’s Up Brno featuring the festivals scheduled in Czech Republic this summer, and it’s now time to go back to our regular edition. Markets and festivals are part of the menu this week. As dessert you can appreciate summer cinema or art workshops!

Do you like movies? Do you like to watch them during the evening, outside, eventually with a nice breeze refreshing you? Then you are lucky, because Brno offers you 3 different open location where movies will be screened during the summer. The courtyards of the Governor’s Palace, the Špilberk Castle and the Town Hall are waiting for you.

From July 11 till July 28, the city of Znojmo hosts a music festival. For its 15th edition, the worldwide known violinist Pavel Šporcl will open the festival. Multiple events will take place in the city: dance, multimedia presentations, encounters… This year, the festival celebrates the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Iron curtain. Sting is currently crossing fields of gold to perform in Slavkov u Brna on July 12 in the castle garden. The concert is unfortunately sold-out, but another concert will take place the next day featuring Slza and the duo Marcus & Martinusit’s and some tickets are still available! These two concerts are part of Slavkov Open Festival.

Everyone thinks their dog is the cutest, but is it, really? You can now find it out at the Brno Dog Day 2019. From Saturday at 9 AM to Sunday at 3 PM you can make your dog compete in various disciplines and prove who’s the fluffiest goodest boy in Brno. The event will also come with many accompanying events, you can find the full program on the Facebook event or on the official website (in Czech). 

Buying fresh fruits and vegetables is always better. During summer period it’s always good to enjoy products coming directly from the field, but also bread, cheese, meat, textile and more! Two farm markets will take place in Brno region this weekend: the first one in Brno-Medlánky (Kytnerova 1) on Saturday from 9 AM to 12 PM, and the second one at Vyškov aeroclub on Saturday and on Sunday from 7 AM till 2 PM.

Time to buy a dress to face the heat? What about some nice old vintage sunglasses? This week you can attend 2 different Flea markets! On Saturday you can attend the Flea Market on Třída Kapitána Jaroše, a flea market in the longest urban alley in the Czech Republic. Entrance is free and you can have your own stand if you book it on time. Find more information on the Facebook event

And if you haven’t found the dress you were looking for, you can have another chance on Sunday at the Flea Market in Alfa Passage. Same as above, you can book in advance your own stand if you register beforehand, more information on the Facebook event

From next Sunday on the streets of Brno will be filled with art and music for the ProArt Festival. A week of dances, workshops and more awaits you. You can find the full program on the official website
