Brno, June 11 (BD) – A day to celebrate for Brno’s Mendel University! As MENDELU Rector Danuse Nerudova wrote on Twitter: “For the first time, Mendel University has made it to the global top 1000 rankings, in the positions #701-750. This is a great success for the university! Thanks to everyone who contributed to it!”
The prestigious list, produced by British higher education research firm Quacquarelli Symonds, has been released every year since 2004, and is one of the three most respected global rankings reports for top universities. In this year’s rankings, US universities showed strongly; the Massachusetts Institute of Technology topped the list, followed by Stanford University, Harvard University, and the California University of Technology (Caltech). Oxford University was the highest placed European university, in 5th.
Ten Czech universities were included in the Top 1000, with Charles University the highest at #260. Masaryk University ranks highest of Brno universities, placed #531-540, and fourth in the Czech Republic. Brno University of Technology and Mendel University are both placed #701-750, sixth and seventh in the Czech Republic respectively.
