Since the beginning of this week, voting has been open for this year’s Dáme na vás (‘Over to You’) participatory budget scheme. A record number of 88 projects have advanced to the final stage. Foreign residents of Brno can also vote in the poll, as long as they are permanent residents, and have had their data verified by Dáme na vás coordinators.
According to Petr Bořecký, Brno city councillor for public participation, 186 projects were submitted for this year’s competition. After assessment by city districts, companies and municipal departments, 88 of these projects advanced to the final vote, the highest number ever.
“This is a new record, which I am very happy about. It is clear that people want to actively participate in the development of the city,” said Bořecký.
Voting will be open until the end of November. The winning proposals will be announced on the evening of 30 November, at 8 pm. The city will implement the projects with the most votes up to a total amount of CZK 35 million.

Brno residents over 18 with permanent residence can vote on the Dáme na vás website, where they can log using their ID number from a fully verified BrnoID account, or using the Citizen Identity tool. Residents can also vote in person at the Dáme na vás stand, present on certain days at Náměstí Svobody and on Česká.
For foreign residents, the process has a couple of extra steps. In order to vote, it is first necessary to verify your data, and obtain a voting token. You will need a proof of residence permit. Verification will be carried out by the participatory budget coordinators after prior arrangement by email or in person.

More information about this year’s projects is available on the Dáme na vás website, as well as an exhibition on Náměstí Svobody until 9 November, from 2 pm to 6 pm. From 9 to 30 November, the exhibition will move to Mendlovo náměstí.
There will also be a Dáme na vás stand on Česká, on 12, 19, and 26 November, from 4 to 6 pm, with various activities and quizzes for children, and cups of coffee for adults who are voting.
