Salvation Army prepares X-mas lunch for homeless in Brno
Brno, Dec 28 (CTK) – The Salvation Army prepared Christmas lunch for the homeless in its asylum centre in Brno, the second largest town in the Czech Republic, Ivan Borek, the director of the social services centre, has told CTK.
Fish with potato salad and traditional Christmas sweets were served to a total of 170 homeless people.
They could also take part on a joint contemplation, reading a prayer and singing carols.
Salvation Army supreme representative Teunis Scholtens attended the event that had been held for many years.
A divine service was celebrated before the lunch.
“This is an annual event. It always attracts many people and we usually have a full house. Along with food, we prepare a joint contemplation, a prayer and singing,” Borek said.
After the fish and salad, the homeless also received tea and a package with Christmas sweets.
The Salvation Army’ss asylum centre is the largest facility for the homeless in south Moravia.
The centre also organises a Christmas fund-raising campaign.
